The Trials of a Genie - P1

Victoria, Karan and Daniel were the adventurous type. They loved to roam around and go into places they shouldn't go to. It was their summer holidays and their target for the day was to enter the abandoned house. It had recently been the house of an old man who has passed away. But no one found the body. So everyone believed it to be haunted. That's why our trio wanted to explore it.

All three of them held torchlights and backpacks with wet tissues and masks. Daniel whimpered at the doorway. 'Do we have to go in?' he was just 11 while the other two were 13. Victoria sneered. 'It's not scary! Just come on in!'

The three of them marched in. There were cobwebs everywhere. The place had a gentle breeze which chilled their bones. Victoria yelled  'First one to find something weird wins!' and ran off. The other two ran in opposite directions, their torches gleaming, taking up the challenge.

Around 5 minutes later, Daniel called out. 'I FOUND SOMETHING!!' The other two quickly came to the dining area where Daniel stood, raising his hands, holding something that looked way to much like the magical lamp from Aladdin. 'Oooh will we get three wishes each?' asked Karan. 'Don't be silly.' laughed Victoria. 'Genie's aren't actually real. And anyway, that lamp is the size of your fist. No one can fit inside that!' She moved aside. 'If a genie did exist it would need something bigger to be in, like this!' she said, tapping a barrel which was stored in the corner of the room. 'See? nothing is happening.' She told Karan, who was rubbing the Lamp as fast as he could.

'HeLOoOoOo' Said a squeaky voice, making the trio jump a foot in the air. 'I aaaam a geeenieeee'

'AAAHHHHH' screamed Karan and Victoria. Daniel squealed. 'Yay! I knew you were real! MY first wish is th-' Daniel's mouth was moving but no words came out. 'Let me stop you right there.' Said the Genie. I have my own rules and conditions. But first, let me introduce myself. I have been living in that barrel since I died.' Before he could say more, Karan chipped in. 'Wait. You are supposed to be in a lamp. And also are you saying you used to be a perso- waittt... you were the old man who lived here weren't you?'

'I am an old man with weak limbs.' Said the genie. 'I simply can not bend my limbs to fit inside the lamp. The barrel was much more spacious.' Said the genie/old dead man. 'And for your next question, yes I was the man who died.'

He snapped his fingers and Daniel could finally speak again. He cowered behind Victoria.

'Well,' said the genie. 'Well, thanks for freeing me, now you can do my bidding for the rest of eternity.'
